Opportunity for an experienced, employment tax consultant to join a specialist team advising on issues affecting contractors: employment status, IR35, the Construction Industry Scheme, umbrella companies and agencies. This role takes in all aspects of Contractor Consulting, including HMRC interface, umbrella compliance and consultancy.
The vacancy has arisen as a result of continued strategic growth for this global services organisation, and subsequent additional workload. Reporting to a senior manager, the successful candidate will mentor and manage a small team, in addition to being responsible for delivering their own portfolio of employment tax advisory work covering: representing clients in dispute with HMRC with regards to IR35, Self-Employed Status, CIS, Managed Service Companies legislation and S44 ITEPA 2003.
With opportunity to write for the tax and contractor press and to present to client seminars, you can work from home 3 days a week and will be required to be in the Midlands office 2 days a week. In addition, there may occasionally be wider UK travel to visit clients.
Essential experience and skills:
• Dealing with self-employed status and IR35.
• Sound knowledge of case law on self-employed status and comfortable utilising case law and legislation on a regular basis.
• A background in HMRC Enquiries and employer compliance.
• Understanding and awareness of tax compliance requirements.
• Business development and marketing of tax services.
• Strong Excel and research skills.
