Our client is a longstanding independent accountancy firm. This practice seeks a semi senior to join a busy and sociable tax team. In this role you will deal with a mix of compliance and advisory work for businesses and their owners. Working directly to the Tax Manager you will need to enjoy direct client contact and working in a small but friendly team. Initially the role will focus on a mix of compliance work and ad-hoc advisory work and the focus of the role will then progress towards more advisory work. Day to day it will involve a wide range of tax work for both businesses and individuals including the preparation of:-

Personal, corporate and trust tax returns.
Self-employed and corporate tax computations.
Capital Allowance computations.
R & D Tax claims.
P11Ds.
Capital Gains tax computations for personal and corporates.
Property rental computations.
Assisting with proactive tax planning and advice.
Review of outsourced tax compliance.
You will assist the manager on planning work including:
Dividend tax planning.
Advising on Self-employed to LTD company status.
Tax residency Certificates.
Planning on investment property - own name or Ltd holdings.
Company buy back of shares.
Liquidation and closedown of companies.
Directors' salaries and remuneration.
Other day to day client queries and pro-active advice.
Our client uses Iris Software in their tax department and throughout the practice.
The ideal candidate will have sound communication skills, an aptitude for IT including Excel experience and experience of using accounting and tax software. You will need to have had a minimum of 2 years' UK tax experience and may come from a general practice or accounts background and be keen to specialise in tax. An accounting qualification (ACCA, AAT, ACA, ICAS etc) would be an advantage and study support is available for CTA or ATT. Most of all you will need a genuine enthusiasm for tax work. This is a great role in a friendly and progressive accountancy firm. Would consider someone more experienced who wants to work part-time. Salary in the range £28,000 to £32,000 + pension and study support.
