VAT Manager, Taunton, Somerset

The Taunton office of this established firm of Chartered Accountants is looking to recruit an experienced VAT Manager who will report to the
VAT Director.

The role in brief:

Dealing with VAT compliance issues concerning the preparation of VAT returns, error correction and dealing with HMRC on behalf of clients

Attending VAT inspections and dealing with any matters arising

Dealing with queries and disputes with HMRC

Providing external and internal consultancy advice on compliance and technical issues

Carrying out VAT planning exercises to ensure that the VAT affairs of clients are as VAT efficient as possible

Identifying sources of work from within the firm and externally

Monitoring WIP and billing

About you:

Experience of providing VAT compliance and advice to a wide range of clients in your career to date, gained within a professional services
practice, or potentially in-house or within HMRC

Knowledge and experience in dealing with issues relating to land and property, partial exemption, international services, charities and not for profit organisations as well as complex VAT transactions

Experience in dealing with HMRC both face to face and in written correspondence

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
