This is a NYSE listed global insurance group with regional operations in EMEA and Asia. Reporting to the Regional Head of Tax, this role will work with the Senior Tax colleagues and Advisory firms to ensure that all the Group's tax positions are documented with a positive, forward thinking approach. This role will require the holder to have strong project management skills, to be highly organised and to have the technical ability to provide basic tax advice and to understand complex tax advice obtained from Advisors.
Key responsibilities:
* Act as a liaison between the advisors and other functions within the Group to ensure the Advisory firms have all of the information that they need to in order to provide an opinion e.g. legal structures, budgets, forecasts, business descriptions etc.
* Liaise with the Head of Compliance and Reporting to ensure "Uncertain Tax Positions" arising as a result of the advice obtained above are documented and recorded.
* Assist the Regional Head of Tax in the implementation of advice obtained and on key projects in particular acting as a project manager to ensure that the implementations are complete and effective.
* Have a good high-level understanding of all the BU's in the Group and provide high level modelling of the impacts of structural changes, tax planning or changes in tax risk.
* Ensure that FATCA documentation etc are kept up to date
* Provide technical support to the compliance and reporting team as required and ensure technical positions are correctly reflected in tax returns and in US and local GAAP accounts.
Required background:
* Qualified ACA, CTA or equivalent
* International experience and demonstrable experience delivering tax projects
* Insurance experience would be helpful although not essential
* Strong numerical skills
* Computer literate - knowledge of Microsoft package and preferably Alphatax
