A Top 20 Practice client of mine are looking to recruit a corporate tax senior to join their Corporate Tax Group in London. Candidates should ideally be ATT qualified and may be CTA qualified/part qualified or be willing to study for CTA. Those with an accountancy background would also be of interest including ACA qualified/part qualified.

The role

The successful applicant will be responsible for their portfolio of clients. Duties will include dealing with the compliance aspects of the tax work, including preparation of corporation tax returns and computations, running a portfolio of clients, tax advice to clients and involvement with tax planning and projects. The role provides a variety of work as the corporate client portfolio is varied and includes OMBs, SMEs, groups (including international groups), some LLPs and some notfor-profit organisations.

The department

The London tax department is currently organised into five direct tax groups: one corporate tax group, three personal tax groups and a tax advisory group. We also have a VAT team. There are 12 partners and approximately 70 staff within the London Tax group.

We are looking to recruit a corporate tax semi-senior or senior to join the corporate tax group. The corporate tax team provides direct tax advice to clients and provides support to partners and the client base of the two London audit groups, Business Advisory and Private Wealth & Estates Group. Additionally, the group provides tax advice to the regional offices either directly or via the London tax partners, together with general backup and support to regional tax staff. Tax planning arises as a matter of course across the team's diverse portfolio.

The individual

The successful applicant will have gained one to two years' experience at semi-senior/senior level in a corporate tax role, is likely to come from a professional services firm and should be able to demonstrate that they are confident in dealing with their colleagues, partners and clients alike. In order to manage their own portfolio, prioritisation and organisational skills are essential to ensure all deadlines are met. Individuals must be able to work on their own initiative in this respect and possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude. As with any role it is essential that applicants have the ability to provide accurate work in a timely and cost effective manner. With this role come the prerequisites that the candidate is motivated, committed and flexible with the ability to meet deadlines.
