The London Tax Investigations team specialise in dealing with HMRC enquiry and dispute resolution work, including complex tax fraud enquiries. The work also includes supporting clients with tax avoidance cases, voluntary disclosures and general tax risk assessments.

An Executive is a below-management role that is Senior to the Associate level and generally appropriate for those who have significant prior work experience or have recently passed professional qualifications. The Executive will take responsibility for the team in a fee-earning capacity and as such will be directly involved in performing client services as well as leading business development efforts to generate streams of work referrals.

The focus of the role is to perform these responsibilities in collaboration with the Associates and other trainees within the team, delegating work in a way that helps to meet client demands as well as utilising resource efficiently throughout the team.

The work performed should support the management team in their day to day duties, especially in terms of client management. As the individual progresses with the team and the wider firm, they will be expected to demonstrate management skills and responsibilities and will have the opportunity to take on an Assistant Manager role once this has been sufficiently demonstrated over time.
Job Description:

Markets

Develops an internal network within the tax department and other service lines.
Supports the Senior Management in both domestic and overseas marketing jurisdictions, attending regular business development meetings.
Oversee contact databases and information gathering, allowing the management to focus on specific relationships and opportunities.

Clients

Attend initial client meetings and potential referrals to assist management with winning work.
Supports managers on delivery of client projects including managing correspondence and researching technical aspects.
Delegate aspects of client work to Associates in the team to manage cost and resource while providing trainees with the opportunity to experience further work and develop talent.
Oversee analysis work and report preparations, allowing job managers to focus on the wider client objectives and the review stage of assignments.
Develop understanding of all Tax Investigations specialisms including technical aspects, risk management and obligations relating to quality and ethics.

People

Form strong working relationships across the team at all levels.
Demonstrate initiative, drive and ownership of work objectives.
Show considerable organisational skills with attention to detail.
Develop a significant internal network across the firm through day to day interactions as well as attending numerous internal events and opportunities.

Quality

Understand and use where required, the key obligations for ethical and legal regulations such as money laundering, due diligence and client engagement.
Consider all work from a risk management perspective and be alert to potential mitigating actions that may be required.
Provide training to Associates and other trainees on various quality areas, taking responsibility for the overall team meeting the professional standards required.

Operations

Provide training and experience to trainees on a variety of operational areas. This may include hosting training sessions or presentations on methods used in general client work or specific technical aspects.
Consider team costs and client time, alerting management to potential issues and providing insight to assist with billing clients efficiently and successfully.
Monitors own time to ensure recoverability on client projects as well as meeting own financial targets.
