An Audit Technician will form part of the audit team both on-site at clients, and in the office, ensuring that all aspects of the audit are completed on time and within budget
Responsibilities
Complete work outlined in APT audit programme and record conclusions drawn from the audit work in order to enable a reviewer to assess potential risks or issues
Assist in documenting client statutory information by review of online resources
Liaise with 3rd parties to ensure external confirmations of client balances are received, checked and attached into the APT audit file on a timely basis
Identify matters arising on a section in an audit file for inclusion in notes for Partner
Complete small sections of an audit file with the support of a senior
Active engagement with client staff in the gathering of appropriate audit evidence
Help identify types of controls (ELCs, ALCs) that can be found in a client’s business and determine which elements should be confirmed for design & implementation
Raise and then post audit adjustments through a set of financial statements following discussion with the client
Help draft the wording of MLPs identifying recommendations for clients on the deficiencies or other findings arising during the course of the audit
Provide onsite and offsite assistance and project management support to Audit Seniors, Managers and Partners
Gain an understanding of client structures, finance team roles and sector/industry issues
Perform tasks in a cost effective manner and notify Seniors/Manager of additional time costs
Liaise with clients and BDO colleagues via email, phone and in person
Attend relevant internal and external client meetings
Prepare appropriately structured WPs and gain a working knowledge of the firm’s software tools (APT, Perfect Information)
Act as a representative of the firm whilst on client premises
Carry out ad hoc assignments as may be reasonably required by your group.
Requirements
Minimum of education at A level for the role in question (also Maths and English - GCSE)
