Head of Compliance & Reporting – Tax – Financial Services sector – £150k +

This Financial Services group is a world leader in the Insurance industry. The UK office is based in the City of London and the group is looking for someone to come on board as the Head of Compliance & Reporting, responsible for a wide range of issues.
The Compliance & Reporting team currently consists of 6 specialists and these would all report into the incoming Head of Compliance & Reporting, who in turn would report into the European Head of Tax.
This a senior position within the organisation, and you will be given the autonomy to run a highly skilled team dealing with this insurance group’s tax risk areas.
Duties will include:
• Managing the Compliance & Reporting team, ensuring technical positions are correctly reflected in tax returns and in US and local GAAP accounts.
• Leading all US GAAP reporting projects, as well as local GAAP and IFRS reporting
• Woking closely with the European Head of Tax and the wider leadership
• Overseeing international and EU audits
• Reviewing and monitoring tax risks and controls in the UK and Europe
• Monitoring high risk areas of tax for the wider organisation, with a particular focus on US GAAP
• Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders including professional advisors and HMRC
• Managing and mentoring a successful team
• Overseeing process documentation, improvement and tax technology

About you:
• ICAEW/ICAS qualified
• CTA qualified preferred, but not essential
• Experience dealing with US GAAP is essential
• UK Direct Tax background
• Proven international tax track record
• Big 4 training preferred
• Currently working in a senior compliance & reporting role within industry
• While Insurance/Financial Services sector specific experience is advantageous the main criteria is experience dealing with US GAAP reporting, so industry background is not essential
