The Real Estate Indirect Tax Team is a national team and has an advisory, transaction and compliance focus. The team has a deep industry knowledge and a wealth of experience in providing to clients tailored and practical advice on the application of VAT in relation to complex transactions and commercial arrangements.

The team advises a wide range of clients including investors, developers, fund managers, construction companies, self-storage operators, house builders, student accommodation providers, housing associations as well as occupiers in the not for profit, higher education, financial services and consumer business sectors. As well as the real estate advisory team, we have a specialist real estate compliance team.

The Indirect Tax Real Estate team sits at the heart of Deloitte Real Estate. Deloitte Real Estate offers a breadth of capability and an innovative approach unequalled in the market. Combining property services with financial and business advisory expertise to deliver integrated solutions, Deloitte Real Estate apply a depth of insight drawn from our understanding of all industries and sectors. This provides the Real Estate Indirect Tax team an unrivalled opportunity for building commercial insight and experience.

The team works closely with trade bodies as well as dealing with HM Revenue & Customs, acting on behalf of clients and in the course of consultations. Consistent with its clients operations, the work is often global in nature and provides colleagues the chance to broaden their knowledge and interact with the Deloitte global network regularly. The team work with real estate experts nationally, often reporting direct to Directors and Partners.

Responsibilities

You will have responsibility for:
- Assisting with deepening relationships with target accounts, contributing to winning new work
- Leading existing client engagements, reporting direct to a partner
- Assisting with developing less experienced staff with hands on advice and support
- Input into development of new market opportunities locally, nationally and internationally with an opportunity to lead the market development of the new ideas
- Contributing to enhancement of relationships with all targets and clients
- Working closely with colleagues in other parts of the firm
- To have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture

Requirements

- To qualify for the role you must have:
- CTA or equivalent qualification
- Prior Real Estate VAT experience gained within industry, professional services or HMRC
- Excellent client facing, relationship building and business development skills, coupled with commercial awareness
- The ability to be proactive, identify opportunity and take early responsibility
