VAT Assistant Manager - Glasgow

Change Public Practice are working with a leading global Chartered Accountancy firm to assist them in the recruitment of an Indirect Tax Assistant Manager for their growing team in Glasgow.

This Indirect Tax team in Glasgow works with a variety of organisations across multiple sectors. The business has been growing steadily year-on-year and in order to seize the opportunities available in the market, the team requires new top talent. You will gain a wide range of experience in all core areas of indirect tax within a variety of markets and industries. The role will focus on a range of compliance and consulting type queries covering a range of supply chain scenarios often spanning more than one tax jurisdiction. In addition, there is a considerable amount of client interaction.

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service
Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and managing expectations
Contribute to winning new work by proactively managing existing clients and also work with the Managers and Partners to win new business with new clients
Manage the successful delivery of tax projects, ensuring technical excellence and practice / business driven approach taken
Responsible for day-to-day delivery of client liaison
Key member of one of the client service groups providing full tax services to a client portfolio

Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years’ VAT / Indirect Tax experience ideally gained from a similar environment i.e. Big 4 / Top 10 etc.
Ideally hold a relevant professional qualification i.e. CTA, ATT, ACA or equivalent
Ability to build strong client relationships
Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know where to refer upwards
Client focused and commercially aware
Relationship management skills with the ability to manage client expectations
Team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
Project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor own budget
Excellent communicator, both written and oral
