Overview

Due to our continued growth within Financial Services Advisory, we are looking for senior consultants with experience in regulatory consulting across the sector.

Our clients range across the sectors of Banking (typically UK banks, challenger banks and foreign banks), insurance, wealth management and asset management. Typical projects within Financial Services Advisory consist of:

Advice on emerging regulatory requirements.
Provision of regulatory support and guidance.
Reviews of risk management and compliance arrangements and effectiveness of control functions.
Development of risk and compliance arrangements and controls assurance frameworks.
Section 166 Skilled Person Review work on a variety of areas such as corporate governance, credit risk, operational risk and prudential matters.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals, who are articulate, possess great attention to detail and report writing skills.

We are interested in individuals with experience of either banking, investment firms, capital markets, insurance or intermediaries or a combination of these. Specifically we are looking for individuals with minimum three years’ experience, have previous FS regulation experience, a professional qualification or near-qualified (ACA, ACCA, IIA or MCSI) and are keen on becoming an integral part of this growing team.

The role will involve “hands on” project delivery on a variety of advisory projects plus involvement in internal projects such as training, methodology development and technical research.

The role also provides potential for longer term career progression for the right candidate in this rapidly developing area of the Firm.


Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the successful individual will be:

Assisting the engagement manager in engagement planning, taking a lead on the completion of fieldwork and report drafting
Assist firms in understanding the impact of regulatory developments and provide guidance on the application of regulatory requirements
Ensuring timely project completion by adherence to pre-determined timeframes and effectively prioritising tasks
Building and maintaining strong relationships with both clients and the wider BDO financial services network
Assist in the analysis of new regulation and legislation, identifying impact on target market and potential client offerings
Assisting in business development including bid production, targeting and networking.


Requirements

The ideal individual will meet the following criteria:

Excellent and demonstrable report writing skills
Previous experience of regulation, risk management or compliance gained in consultancy or with a regulator
Good knowledge of one or more sectors or regulatory focus areas
Good working knowledge of areas of the FCA / PRA Handbook
Ability to plan, undertake and deliver projects including reviews and monitoring / assurance work
Proven project management and client handling skills
Experience dealing with client stakeholders and senior management.
