Head of Indirect Tax

Our client is a large and successful European multinational company. This is an opportunity to join the European tax department in a leadership position, taking responsibility for the indirect tax department that includes functional responsibility of both VAT and Customs & Excise tax.

The newly created position has both technical and managerial responsibilities. The Group would like to appoint someone with strong leadership skills and proven experience of managing a team. From day one you will take on around five direct reports and this will increase over time.

On the technical side, the work will include indirect tax planning, providing day-to-day indirect tax advice, handling relationships with fiscal authorities, and oversight of compliance.

Ideally you will have at least 15 years of German and international indirect tax experience from working in a Big 4 firm and from the in-house tax department of a multinational company.

You will need solid indirect tax expertise, enabling you to have detailed tax technical discussions with staff and tax authorities. Team management and communication skills are also very important.

Fluency in English is essential. At least business level German language would be highly beneficial. The size and complexity of this global company will provide many professional and intellectual challenges for you for many years to come.
