The Role
The Tax Manager will assist in all areas of tax compliance and the provision of advice to the business generally in respect of global tax matters.
The successful candidate will be ACA qualified and will be comfortable with a role that will encompass UK direct and indirect tax compliance for all UK entities and liaison with external advisors. The candidate will work closely with staff of offshore entities in relation to overseas tax with a particular focus on US tax matters. The role will also involve the provision of tax advice to the company and the investment advisors in connection with the global asset management business.
Key Responsibilities
Asset management group:
* Ensure continued compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, for example: CT, VAT, PSA, FATCA and partnership tax returns
* Work closely with all business units and respond to ad hoc queries on a range of matters, for example: VAT, CT or PAYE
* Keep abreast of changes in tax law and assess the impact on the asset management group structure, for example: DIMF, mixed membership partnership rules etc.
Funds:
* Ensure continued compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, for example: CT, VAT, IME, FATCA and tax returns
* Provide advice and respond to queries from front and middle office on a range of matters, for example: corporate actions, withholding tax, capital gains tax, reclaims and stamp duty
* Keep abreast of any changes in tax regimes globally, actively communicate such changes to front and middle office and advise on how the changes may impact certain transactions, for example; BEPS or 871(m) regulations
* Advise on fund structuring for new vehicles, for example: ERISA planning and ICAV structures
* Review fund documentation, for example: ISDA, GMSLA, PB agreements and OMs
* Assist with fund incorporation and liquidations, to include; advising on suitable structures, reviewing documentation and advising on tax implications of the proposed investments
* Assist middle office with FIN48 / ASC 740 queries from the funds' auditors
Person Specification
* Qualified ACA/ CA accountant with tax specialization
* Experience of an asset management environment
* Corporation tax compliance experience
* Income tax experience an advantage (including the treatment of BIKs and completion of PSAs)
* VAT experience an advantage, particularly knowledge of partial exemption and OSR services
* Ability to work under own initiative and to tight deadlines
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
