This top tier business services group, with a major operation in London, now seeks a Tax Assistant or Tax Accountant with good IT know-how to join their tax software support team. This is an established team handling a range of tax compliance software user and installation issues, and so looking for a candidate with foundational knowledge or experience on accounting and corporate tax computations. Additional experience on VAT compliance & tax process with HMRC will be an added advantage.
Key responsibilities include:
Logging support request information, paying particular attention to problem description, resolution, user reaction and follow up action.
Identify causes and solve problems for customers within acceptable time limits
Respond to enquiries from customers in relation to the installation, functionality and performance of supported products either verbally by telephone or in writing by email
Take full accountability for customer enquiries and either respond personally or escalate to appropriate team and ensure that a response is provided and given to the customer in a timely manner
Ensure, where appropriate, information gained from handling supports queries is promoted to our knowledge base and communicated to interested parties.
Update knowledge base with known issues, tips and workarounds as required
Maintain up to date product knowledge and acquire further knowledge of relevant supported products to facilitate the continued provision of quality guidance to customers.
In terms of your background, you may have started your career in accounting / tax with an accountancy firm, possibly part qualified ACCA or AAT / ATT qualified. You will now be actively looking to move away from doing accounts and tax preparation. You will be familiar with the accounting and tax process required for UK or international companies, you will have some tax compliance experience (CT or VAT), and will have seen the HMRC filing requirements for tax / VAT. In addition, you will be comfortable with IT and installing items of software on PCs or other devices. Good knowledge of Word / Excel will also be required. In addition, you will have an articulate manner, able to provide good customer service, and be able to communicate well and concisely over the phone and in writing / email.
