Our client, an independent firm of chartered accountants based in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, are looking for a Tax Assistant to join their friendly team. This role is ideal for someone with some tax experience in practice who is looking to progress their career in a role offering genuine career development within a Leading Independent Firm.
The Role
The role will include:
- Preparing annual self-assessment tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, notifying clients of their tax liabilities and submitting tax returns to HMRC
- Preparing Corporation Tax returns
- Drafting correspondence with HMRC
- Preparing schedules and supporting information for tax returns
- Drafting correspondence with clients to remind them of outstanding information required and reminding them of potential penalty/interest surcharge implications because of late filings
- Ensuring that all client files are kept up to date with relevant documentation
- Preparing engagement letters and client acceptance information
- Adhering to budgets and deadlines
- Assisting with ad hoc matters such as research, as requested by the Tax Manager
Candidate requirements:
- At least 1 year's experience of personal tax. Familiarity with CT600s, domicile and residence issues, would be preferable.
- ATT Qualified or studying with a view to study CTA (full study support provided)
- Able to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
- Well organised and client focused
- Flexible working attitude. Must be able to work on several clients’ affairs at the same time.
