At Grant Thornton our people are at the heart of everything we do, without great people we know we can't realise our vision of shaping a vibrant economy.

This role supports clients with a wide range of services including preparation of annual and management accounts and statutory audits. Our clients are diverse and include several specialist sectors: medical practices, farms, agriculture, not for profit entities, education and dynamic growing owner managed businesses. The team works together to support and challenge each other to exceed clients’ expectations.

The role offers the exciting opportunity to work independently and take ownership of preparing the management accounts, bookkeeping and VAT returns for our growing portfolio of clients who require a bespoke service. Reporting directly to the manager on each assignment, liaising with other service lines and building important client relationships. The role offers variety with special one off assignments and the opportunity to help develop and challenge the control processes around the service provided.

You’ll develop a good working relationship with client staff with whom you will have most contact
You’ll be competent in Sage line 50
You’ll have experience of preparing management accounts and VAT Returns
You’ll be able to answer day to day management account queries from clients and consult with managers and partners appropriately demonstrating good judgement

Who we're looking for:

You'll have a genuine interest in our clients. We want to provide a distinctive service and unlock potential for growth in dynamic organisations.

You'll know that what you do matters. As an organisation, we want to be known for how we do business, not simply what we do. Therefore, we need people who know that every act matters from the simple things to the insights we bring to clients.

You'll seize opportunities. We want to adapt quickly and wisely to changing conditions to optimise growth for both our clients and ourselves.

You'll apply critical reasoning to bring clarity and insight. We do it by asking great questions, listening and drawing on our collective knowledge and experience to really help others grow.

Education, experience and qualifications:

You’ll be proficient in the use of the Microsoft programme
You'll have a working knowledge of Sage line 50
You’ll have experience in carrying out manual payrolls
You'll have proven experience of working in a similar role.
