Mixed Tax Manager, Advisory Focus, £60-65,000

This independent firm offers you autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to work directly with partners. The firm is tax focused and has grown significantly over the last few years. This is partly because it has taken on some high profile tax partners, who are driving the tax business forward and partly due to sound a planned strategy by the senior partners. The firm is good enough to attract professionals from the Top 20 and competes effectively with mid-tier firms.

The role will involve you providing tax advisory services to a range of entrepreneurial clients in a variety of sectors that include property, media and entertainment. Your work will include international issues, tax structuring for offshore companies holding UK assets, trust interests, EMI schemes, employee share schemes and tax advice for a range of on and offshore companies and their owners. In addition to the technical work you will build effective relationships with clients, get involved in client pitches (assisting with the preparation of presentations etc) and working closely with partners.

The business case exists (given growth and future plans) for more senior staff. This position is ideal for someone who feels frustrated by the lack of opportunity in their present firm and would like to advance. I think it would also appeal to someone in a larger firm that wants to more than just another foot soldier.
