This business is looking to recruit a Corporate Tax Preparer. This position is based in our Satellite Tax team alongside the Finance Shared Service Centre. The role reports to the Corporate Tax Manager and involves the preparation and timely delivery of Corporate Tax compliance activities including the preparation of tax packs, through to Corporation Tax computation preparation for submission to the Group Tax Team. The Corporate Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing CT returns in relation primarily to the business units located in the FSSC, but also for other business units within the wider Group.
Key responsibilities:
Work closely with the Corporation Tax Manager, and Corporate Tax personnel within the Group Tax team to gain efficiencies and drive best performance within the department
Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe, in relation to Corporation Tax
Build relationships and interact with internal and external customers to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
Prepare and complete year end tax packs for submission to Group Tax
Respond to queries raised on CT packs in a timely manner providing full responses and assisting query resolution
Identify and mitigate tax risks and actively contribute to the SAO return procedures for the Group
Identify opportunities for process improvements
Assist in year-end consolidation process and review output
Assist in the transition from COINS to Oracle/Hyperion
Assist in the automation of Hyperion reports and consolidation process
Assist in ensuring all relevant claims and elections are made on time
Assist in tax audits
Ensure that all tax reports, checklists, backup, tax packs etc are uploaded to tax archive
Other reasonable duties including tax planning as and when required
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Proven working experience within a Corporate Tax role in a professional environment
Previous experience in accounting processes, experience in a range of accounting areas, financial computer systems and knowledge of accounting legislation
Experience of CT within group context, involving appreciation/experience of worldwide debt cap, Joint Amended Returns, Transfer Pricing, year-end tax reporting, R&D credit claims
Excellent knowledge of tax accounting and tax compliance and ability to understand and work through complex tax positions in relation to Corporation Tax, and all types of tax would be beneficial but not essential
Knowledge of tax software (Thomson OneSource) and MS Office
Experience of working effectively with Record to Report functions or other core financial processes in a Shared Service Centre environment of a complex business
Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly Excel intermediate level required)
