He has a strong technical background and a wealth of experience in building VAT teams to be key departments in their respective firms.  You will have the opportunity to work closely with the director on this and input ideas on how to develop the service offering and improve the department as a whole.

The VAT team is undergoing a transition of impressive growth. If it’s trajectory continues at this pace, their fee base will grow by almost 50% in the next three years. Due to this growth, you won’t be handed a VAT shotgun to go hunting for new work as soon as you step in the door. You will have the opportunity to settle in, build your internal and external relationships before heading out with the partner to bring in the work.

The firm as a whole has moved towards a sector based approach for their clients. The team has clients across a wide variety of the sectors, including SME’s and OMB’s. When discussing the client base with the director, he stated that they have great personal relationships with many of their clients which results in a lot of repeat business for the firm.   

Finally, a good work life balance has been built into the structural foundations of this firm along with the concrete and steel. The director here will treat you like the adult that you are. He will of course expect you to take responsibility of your work and seize opportunities that will benefit the team but he won’t badger and micromanage you.

To qualify for the position, you will need a broad experience of VAT and a passion to develop further. You will need exceptional interpersonal and technical skills and preferably a CTA or the equivalent in experience.
