In this newly created role, you will be the first Group wide Indirect Tax expert. Reporting to the Head of Tax you will manage all matters relating to indirect taxes globally. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders on a wide range of indirect tax issues including; managing outsourced compliance, indirect tax policy and risk management, planning initiatives and group transactions.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced international indirect tax professional. In return for your expertise, you will be rewarded with autonomy, decision making responsibility, and an opportunity to build out a global indirect tax team going forward.
Key responsibilities:
Governance
• Review and maintain indirect tax Policies for the Group
• Develop and manage relationships with key personnel within Group Tax and the Business Units and ensure they apply Group policies
• Ensure global offices are operating appropriately from a tax perspective and are compliant
• Contribute towards maintenance and enhancement relationships with tax authority personnel in relevant territories
• Manage external professional service providers on tax matters
• Train operational staff on pertinent tax matters
• Oversee indirect tax “health checks”
• Contribute towards Centre of excellence for indirect taxes for the Group.
Advisory
• Raise awareness of indirect tax issues within the group in and effectively communicate tax issues to management
• Leading projects to resolve historic indirect tax issues
• Implementing a global group indirect tax strategy
• Identify process improvement opportunities and present the ideas to Group Head of Tax
• Identify and implement indirect tax planning opportunities
• Prepare and hold regular presentations for tax department and internal stakeholders.
Compliance
• Oversee the management of indirect tax compliance (performed in SSC) for the group
• Assist in streamlining indirect tax compliance
• Manage any tax authority enquiries and audits in respect of indirect taxes
• Monitor and communicate legislative changes and practice to the wider Tax team and business as appropriate.
People / Leadership
• Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Group’s values, standards and a professional workplace
• Develop your performance in line with the Group’s policies and systems in order to achieve business goals.
• Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively peers and relevant others (including from other teams) to achieve business goals
• Identify need for further indirect resource and if needed, help build a global indirect tax team.
About you:
• ACA/CTA qualified or similar
• Proven UK/International Indirect Tax experience
• Big 4 training preferred
• Commercial experience preferred
