We are working with a lovely Private Client Tax firm based in Holborn who are looking to recruit a Private Client Tax professional to work across Tax teams in the firm. This is a great opportunity to join a Niche Tax firm and really have the variety and exposure all areas of Private Client Tax

The Role

Working in one of the Firm’s three multi-disciplinary workgroups, as a Tax Assistant. The role will include assisting mostly with tax compliance services with some advisory work, for a portfolio of personal and trust clients, reporting to a Tax Manager.
Preparing annual self assessment tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, notifying clients of their tax liabilities and submitting tax returns to HMRC
Preparing schedules and supporting information for tax returns
Drafting correspondence with clients to remind them of outstanding information required and reminding them of potential penalty/interest surcharge implications as a result of late filings (if instructed by the Manager).
Drafting correspondence with HMR&C – both written and oral communication on enquiries, coding notices and other matters
Drafting correspondence with bankers and investment managers in relation to clients’ portfolios
Ensuring that all client files (electronic) are kept up to date with relevant documentation in the appropriate sections
Preparing engagement letters and client acceptance information
Assisting with billing
Adhering to budgets and deadlines and bringing matters to the attention of the Manager
Assisting with ad hoc matters such as research, as requested by the Tax Manager


You:

At least 1 year’s experience of personal and trust tax, a familiarity and experience of offshore, domicile and residence issues, would be preferable.

ATT Qualified (or in study)
Able to prioritise workload and operate to deadlines
Well organised and client focused?
Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word ?
Experience of using CCH would be beneficial ?
Able to network and market effectively?
Flexible working attitude.
Must be able to work on a number of clients’ affairs at the same time and be prepared to work overtime as necessary during busy periods.?
Organised and methodical manner
Good written and oral communication skills (confident dealing with HMR&C, Bankers and Investment Managers etc, able to produce accurate well presented schedules, emails and letters).
