Tax Manager (UK & Ireland), SCA, based in Dunstable

We are currently looking to hire a Tax Manager to join us in the Global Business Service Unit based from our offices in Dunstable to be responsible for the UK and Ireland.

You will direct and monitor a variety of tax activities to ensure that the organization’s financial resources are managed in accordance with tax principles and comply with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards and ensure that tax activities are completed accurately and on time

Main Tasks
• Provide technical expertise and advice on complex tax issues to functional or operational area
• High technical competence expected for corporate income tax (CIT)
• Good working knowledge is useful and will be need to be developed for VAT and payroll taxes
• Expected to keep up to date with developments to retain status as a UK tax specialist
• Build long-term relationships within area of responsibility (internally) and select, and manage ongoing relationships with, external consultants and advisors (for example tax firms) to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
• Follow accounting standards and other SCA policies such as MICR and legal regulations
• Provide specific, timely and constructive performance feedback
• Lead and contribute to finding and implementing effective solutions in a matrix organization
• Coordinate external and internal tax Audits and resolving audit findings
• Maintains the interface to Group Financial Control, Group Tax, Business Unit Controlling network and Business contacts
• Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop the respective team by performing the employee management process for staff (e.g. staffing decisions, coaching, development, evaluation) with an emphasis to coach and mentor employees. Provide specific, timely and constructive performance feedback

Key Competencies
• The successful candidate will be a member of CIOT/CTA
• Equivalent to 5-10 years’ Finance/Commerce experience including managerial experience
• Able to contribute to and execute tactical plan and lead a team of supervisors / professionals
• Ideally previous experience working in corporate tax
• ERP system /MS Excel / IT Savvy
• Achievement oriented and enthusiastic
• Good communication skills
• A high degree of accuracy and proven ability to meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment is required. You must be able to successfully manage priorities, coordinate complex projects, and develop and implement solutions to difficult problems.
