A premier advertising agency headquartered in New York City is actively seeking a self-motivated and experienced Tax professional, with a strong background in Local and State Tax, for a promising Managerial role on their staff. In this role, the State and Local Tax Manager provides support to both the local US tax team and US business units by being the main point of contact for all routine state and local tax matters. Additionally, the Manager will assist in forecasting, planning, acquisition support, and accounting activities as required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The State and Local Tax Manager will:
• Provide multi-state expertise in all areas of state and local tax including: income, franchise and sales and use
• Prepare the state tax provision and provide analysis regarding said provision
• Research and document and conclude on related to day-to-day state tax matters
• Draft articles/summaries of technical matters for internal circulation
• Review, manage and conclude on all state controversy matters including state tax examinations, preparation of protests and private letter rulings
• Review and conclude on various compliance matters including tax return preparation and voluntary disclosure programs
• Assist in the monitoring of state and local direct and indirect income tax risk associated with business units to assist in mitigating tax risk
• Keep current with latest legislation and case law related to assigned technical areas
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
• 7+ years of progressive experience in State and Local Tax role
• Advanced Credential (i.e. CPA and/or JD)
• Polished and professional demeanor
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent-problem solving and analytical skills
• Proficient use of technology, including MS Excel
Desired Skills
• Experience with Income Tax and Sales & Use Tax
