The role offers a clear progression to director. The tax partner that I deal with has clearly specified a need for a senior manager who wants to make director. You will need to prove yourself of course, but that shouldn’t intimidate a high achiever (I am assuming) like you. Providing you do all the right things, you will be looking at making director in a 12-24 month window.
The office is small enough for you to get to know your peers and partners well (vital if your ambition is to make director/partner) and large enough for you to have technical resources and a first class tax team to draw upon.
The actual position will involve you dealing with high level corporate tax advisory for a diverse range of clients and working alongside the partners on developing business from existing clients and new targets. You will be able to use your mentoring skills to develop and bring up more junior staff and you will advise on a range of issues that are pertinent to a large and complex client base. Typical work the team deals with include exit planning, restructuring, R&D, transactions and review planning exercises.
