Our client is a top tier multinational manufacturing group, with a global head office in West London. They have a strong brand name, and are very much considered a world-class employer.
Based in their group tax function, a new opportunity has arisen for an VAT / indirect tax professional to join and take on a role dedicated to improving VAT / indirect tax compliance and processes. The scope of this role is global, and could be working on VAT automation projects across Europe, or Asia-Pacific and South America. Reporting to a tax team leader, key responsibilities will be to scope out requirements for country-specific VAT compliance needs, assess current processes and IT systems and then make recommendations for improvement. In addition, other project work could relate to rolling-out of new VAT compliance software solutions around the group, or linking the VAT compliance into the finance shared service centre.
To match with the requirements of this role, you will have had an initial training in VAT and will have developed your technical VAT experience through working on VAT compliance, returns, intrastats relating to the large business sector. In addition, you will have had hands-on experience of extracting VAT figures and data out of accounting systems, preferably within a SAP environment. In terms of IT and software, you will have strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups) and ideally with exposure to VAT returns software (although not essential). You will have a proactive approach, be a fast learner, and be able to take and run with a project with minimal supervision. Experience of dealing with senior management and conveying VAT process issues with them will be an additional advantage.
This is an excellent and quite rare opportunity for a VAT compliance / systems specialist to move into a leading corporate group and develop niche VAT systems experience which will be incredibly marketable in the future.
