Job Title: Trainee Trust Assistant
Department: Trust Team - Professional & Private Clients
Location: London

Main Purpose Of The Role

To work as part of the Professional and Private Client Team to assist in preparing trust accounts and tax returns and to provide professional support to the managers in the Trust Team. Excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to organise yourself are essential. Opportunity will be given to study towards CTA and STEP qualifications.

Main Responsibilities

Accounts and tax returns

 Assist in the preparation of tax returns and computations by entering source information provided by clients, and other associated tasks
 Assist in the preparation of trust accounts by completing these from information provided by clients.
 Liaise with HMRC and other professionals regarding client affairs.
 Ensure that professional ethical procedures are followed
 Manage and update the in-house database for client details.
• Assist in posting online banking information for trusts and other private clients
• Assist in the preparation and independent examination of charity annual accounts
• Assist and submit charity annual returns and update forms
• Assist with the preparation and issue of invoices

Clients

 Maintain an up to date understanding of trust clients
 Be aware of the wide range of the firm’s services and spot potential opportunities for clients

Other Responsibilities

 Adhere to the firm’s risk management policies and procedures
 Attend training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keep records for compliance purposes
 Communicate workload with manager or partner
 Undertake other duties to meet the demands of the business
 Ensure that agreed timetables and deadlines are met

Education and qualifications

Essential
 Experience of using Microsoft packages, internet, email and other computerised packages

Desirable

 Experience of working in an accounts department or a relevant degree qualification
