JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior SALT / Tax Controversy Associate will be responsible for:
• Assisting multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies (includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests)
• Analyzing state tax considerations/impacts related to business restructuring projects for multi-state companies
• Preparing state sales and using tax returns
• Researching and drafting technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax questions
• Working closely with Partners to prepare clients for IRS and State tax audits
REQUIRED SKILLS
• 3+ years of experience working for or dealing with the government in the Tax Controversy space or Controversy experience within another Public Accounting and/or Law firm
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Solid Tax background (Research & Planning; State & Local; etc.)
• Microsoft Excel proficient
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized
