VAT Manager - UK & EU, Retail Company

The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time VAT Manager covering the UK & Europe. This position will have accounting and VAT technical responsibilities including quality control, risk identification and supporting internal and external audits.

Key responsibilities

* VAT compliance, support & advice in relation to the UK and European business.
* Identification of process improvement opportunities and the on-going development of new processes and best practice.
* Undertaking the VAT accounting process, in particular the performance of UK & European VAT reconciliations, and maintaining up-to-date VAT process framework.
* Assisting the Head of Tax in liaison with tax authorities on matters relating to VAT.
* Actively participate in cross functional project launches from scoping through to testing and launch.
* Analysis and support with implementation of changes to UK and EU VAT legislation.

About you

The role will provide a strong degree of autonomy and the person will be expected to own and set the vision for the business VAT controls.

* Experience of compliance in UK VAT and VAT in multiple European jurisdictions preferred.
* CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT or similar credentials preferred.
* Good communication and personal skills with a hands-on attitude.
* Analytical and compliance skills.
* Understanding of accounting methods and systems.
* Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
* Strong organisational and project management skills.
