The role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Tax Assistant to join a highly respected Tax team to do a mixed tax role. This is a newly created role to help keep up with the growing Tax related matters that the business deals with on a day-to-day basis due to the continued growth and success of the business.
This is a great opportunity for someone currently in an Accounting firm looking to move into industry, or someone currently in industry looking to broaden their skill set and take on more responsibility/ownership.
Key responsibilities:
* Assisting with monthly Group VAT return preparation and review. Example tasks would be review of Business Unit monthly submissions, such as accuracy of submission and querying any unusual figures, consolidation of VAT data, analytical review of data; follow up queries with BUs where unusual trends identified.
* Assisting the Group VAT manager with queries received from the Business Units (BU's) and HMRC.
* Collation of data from BU's for purposes of annual Partial exemption and Capital Goods Scheme calculations.
* Preparation of Corporation Tax computations and Returns for tax manager's review.
* Sending out questionnaires to BU's, reviewing and consolidating the data, inputting in to Alphatax software, liaising with BU's on follow up questions.
* PAYE Settlement Agreement - Assisting tax manager as required.
* Assisting with ad hoc queries from BU's across all taxes.
* Tax risk reviews (tax audit work) across BU's.
* Updating tax guides as required on ongoing basis.
* Assistance with other tax projects as required.
About you
Previous experience dealing with VAT compliance is essential, however other tax experience is not essential but advantageous. You will receive excellent support and training first hand from the Tax team to help develop your knowledge and bring you up to speed in the areas that you lack experience.
University degree and a tax/accounting qualification or part-qual is essential.
