VAT Manager, Leading Insurer

The company

Our client is a leading insurer with global operations including the US, Europe and Asia. Due to high demands for indirect tax advisory services, a newly created VAT Manager role has arisen. Reporting directly into the Head of VAT, there will be significant exposure to senior business stakeholders across numerous service lines. This is an ideal first step in house for a commercial VAT advisor from the profession, though candidates currently in an industry role will also be highly regarded.

The role

* Advise business units on VAT issues, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately for all commercial and corporate operations.
* Assist in identifying opportunities for increasing the group's VAT recovery.
* Conduct risk and control analysis for indirect tax processes and identify areas where controls can be enhanced.
* Contribute ideas to the VAT/Indirect Tax strategy of the wider group.
* Provide high level review of group VAT compliance including returns, ECSL etc.
* Support internal and external audits.
* Act as a point of contact for tax authorities, dealing with queries.
* Provide ad hoc support to other tax team members where required.

About you

* Strong stakeholder management skills.
* Previous partial exemption experience is highly favourable.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
