The role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Tax Manager (VAT) to oversee a successful and established tax team. Reporting to the Head of Reporting and Tax, the Tax Manager and their team will be responsible for tax accounting and reporting and advising on a number of areas of tax including indirect taxes, CIS, corporation tax, PAYE, R&D and other tax issues that may arise.
The principle responsibilities of the role will be to lead a small team based in the UK and in our shares services function offshore to:
* Deliver monthly UK VAT and CCL accounting and reporting.
* Oversee CIS and IPT compliance.
* Undertake partial exemption calculations and reviews.
* Improve and automate processes.
* Input into the overall controls framework to improve tax controls.
* Provide advice to the business on technical tax issues in a simple, clear manner.
* Provide tax training to relevant finance and business teams.
* Liaise and support the Tax team in relation to corporation tax, R&D, PAYE.
About you
The role requires strong team management, tax and accounting expertise, strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement and management. Indirect tax expertise is essential and either experience in other areas of tax or the ability to develop these areas is required.
The successful incumbent will have the following:
* ACA, CTA or equivalent qualification.
* Tax accounting and advisory experience.
* Significant experience in a large corporate or advisory environment.
* Experience of managing people and working remotely from team.
* SAP experience would be an advantage.
* Strong communication skills.
