Are you an experienced VAT professional looking for a challenging and rewarding role? A dynamic $1bn+ company operating globally, is seeking a dedicated In-House VAT Leader (Director level) to take charge of their indirect tax affairs. This is a unique opportunity to work in an internal, collaborative team, contributing to the success of a renowned organisation.

Our client is a UK-based company with a global footprint, operating in 145 countries. As their In-House VAT Leader you'll be at the forefront of managing and overseeing their indirect tax affairs, including European VAT, HST (Canadian indirect tax), and other global jurisdictions. The role offers a stimulating environment, working closely with a diverse team spanning London, the US, and India.

As their Head of VAT, you will have the exciting opportunity to shape the role based on your expertise and interests.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading and mentoring the in-house VAT team, ensuring timely filing of indirect tax returns.
* Managing VAT aspects of systems and processes, driving efficiency and supporting VAT filings.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams on systems strategy, including technology solutions.
* Dealing with tax authorities on indirect tax matters and analysing implications across jurisdictions.
* Assessing new business activities and services for indirect tax implications.
* Keeping abreast of global indirect tax developments to ensure compliance.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

* Track record in managing VAT affairs for a large multinational group.
* Experience in timely, accurate filing of indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
* Expertise in VAT systems, processes, and technology solutions.
* Strong technical skills with experience in assessing new VAT regimes and complex transactions.
* Previous dealings with tax authorities and experience in managing VAT audits.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
