The VAT manager role is likely to evolve over time but the initial and constant features would include:
Responsibility for filings by the UK VAT group. Receipt, consolidation and review of VAT summaries provided by the UK operating companies (which are on multiple accounting software platforms)
Liaison with HMRC and, as appropriate, external advisers
Education/training of the relevant operating companies' personnel with VAT coding and reporting responsibilities.
Consideration and implementation of VAT improvements by the group.
High level support for European businesses VAT queries; liaison with advisers, etc.
Input into group acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations.
