Responsible for supporting the tax requirements of the assigned Business Unit, being BU International with special focus on European Distribution, EEMEA and some other business units
The BU Tax Manager will report to the Senior Tax Manager International and will also have a dotted line to the Senior Tax Manager for Emerging Markets (residing in Hong Kong),
The BU Tax Manager will have a semi autonomous role in which he/she has the opportunity to take ownership of all EMEA tax matters (amongst others) and will be the focal point of the tax department in the respective Business Units.
Under guidance from the Senior Tax Manager International, the BU Tax Manager will have the opportunity to show initiative and take responsibilities where ever they appear.
Preferred location is Waardenburg, the Netherlands (about 40 minutes car drive from Amsterdam). Under certain conditions other locations (now or in the future) might be taken under consideration, such as Venlo (the Netherlands), Duisburg (Germany) or Montreux, Switzerland.
Will be integrated within the Business Unit and work directly with Business Unit finance, operational, other staff, etc., partnering on behalf of the Tax Department to achieve business objectives while being responsible for tax implications associated with the business unit activities
Work and coordinate with other Stryker Tax personnel (internal resources) and indirectly with external tax specialists to achieve business unit objectives, including participation in tax planning, tax advisory, tax compliance, business restructurings, acquisitions, dispositions, ongoing regulatory reviews, tax controversy management
Function as the Tax Department Liaison with the Business Unit to address all tax matters for the Business Unit and deliver Tax support directly to the Business Unit. This will require coordination with various members of the Tax Department, Business Unit Personnel, and Corporate Accounting (function as an integral member of the Business Unit finance team).

Requirements:
Master’s or Bachelor's degree in fiscal economics or fiscal law from a European university or college or equivalent education and experience
Minimum of 6-9 years of experience in progressively responsible positions in an international tax advisory firm, preferably added with some first experiences with an in-house tax role in a US multinational corporation.
Strong experience in international tax, transfer pricing and corporation income tax is a must. Additional experience in (international) VAT, Customs and payroll taxes are considered to be a plus.
Also preferred is experience in one or more of the following areas: cross border tax planning and implementation of the tax planning, tax audits, FIN48, accounting for income tax and/or tax compliance
Some tax experiences in one or more of the following jurisdictions are considered to be a plus: Germany, Switzerland, France, Ireland,
Hands-on and “can do” personality who is used to take initiative and the lead and is able to build strong relationships.
Strong problem solving, organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize.
Since the Stryker Tax Department is growing and developing continuously, agility, flexibility and adjustability will be highly appreciated.
Fluent in English is a must, any other language are considered to be a plus (especially French and/or German)
Willingness to travel (about 20%)
