About the Opportunity
An insurance company is currently seeking a Tax Manager - FAS 109. The professional who fills this role will plan, organize and coordinate portions of the operations related to US GAAP consolidated tax footnotes; including the review of business unit prepared tax reporting schedules.
The Tax Manager - FAS 109 will:
Plan, organize and coordinate portions of the operations related to US GAAP consolidated tax footnotes; including the review of business unit prepared tax reporting schedules
Coordinate and manage Excel models used to calculate consolidated tax provisions and tax attributes
Review supporting schedule for tax accounting and reporting
Review and analyze legal entity general ledgers and related reconciliations/workpapers
Identify and analyze complex transactions to ensure proper tax accounting treatment
Liaise with members of Corporate Financial Reporting and Tax personnel to ensure proper completion and consistency of the US GAAP tax provisions
4-8 years of public and/or private tax experience
Detailed knowledge of ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109 and FIN 48) and related tax accounting guidance
Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to influence, drive consensus, and negotiate effectively
Good problem solving skills, with the ability to look for and develop solutions
Experience working within the insurance industry
Knowledge of tax accounting software
