Planning Review or Compilation engagement and tax returns, which includes:
§ Conducting and reviewing research in order to have an in-depth understanding
of a client's industry and business;
§ Meeting with the client to determine expectations, issues and concerns; and
§ Reviewing the engagement approach, related procedures and staff requirements.
Managing the engagement, which includes:
§ Ensuring that all work is completed and documented in accordance with our
prescribed standards;
§ Preparing Review or Compilation financial statements and other client
communications for review with senior staff and client;
§ Preparing corporate and personal tax returns, T4's, T5's and other
information returns and related correspondence;
Preparing complete working paper files for Review procedures and Compilation
engagements;
§ Managing staff and providing timely feedback throughout the engagement as
well as formal performance reviews upon completion of the engagement;
§ Managing interpersonal relations and building the morale of the team;
§ Coaching and mentoring junior staff;
§ Proactively providing business solutions and recommendations that reflect a
thorough understanding of industry issues, client strategy and client culture;
§ Continuously communicating with the Manager/Partner with respect to
engagement progress – risks, issues, variances from plan in terms of time,
budget, etc;
§ Preparing and collecting billings on a timely basis;
§ Providing assistance to clients with payroll, GST and PST compliance; and
§ Assisting clients with accounting software.
Completing the engagement, which includes:
§ Establishing and strengthening relationships with your clients to ensure
client satisfaction both during and between the engagement; and
§ Identifying potential opportunities to provide additional services to your
clients.
Years Experience Required
Minimum of three to four years experience working with owner-managed businesses
in a public accounting firm or relevant industry role is required
Education Required
Advanced standing in/completion of a recognized accounting designation program
desired
Job Requirement Essential
§ Understanding of accounting systems
Proficiency with Caseware, Tax Prep and Excel
Proficiency drafting financial statements and other client communications
§ Superior communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills that allow
you to thrive in a team environment;
§ Demonstrated ability to work in a multitasked, fast-paced and changing
environment;
§ Well developed leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving
skills;
§ Commitment to providing excellent client service;
§ Ability to work on complex multiple engagements concurrently.
Travel Required
§ Some travel to clients' premises will be required.
