The Toronto International Tax Services group (ITS) is seeking Tax Managers who
are looking to apply and further develop their knowledge of the Canadian
foreign affiliate rules.
This position involves advising Canadian companies on the Canadian tax
implications of expanding their international operations. In order to provide
global tax solutions, you will work closely with PwC tax professionals in other
countries developing tax effective cross border strategies. You will also be
involved in promoting ITS services and will have the opportunity to network
with existing and prospective clients and other PwC professionals to raise your
tax profile as an international tax specialist, both internally and outside the
firm.
As a Tax Manager you will work in the Canadian ITS group to apply your
knowledge of the foreign affiliate rules in the following activities:
Canadian international tax compliance including review of surplus calculations
and T1134 foreign reporting forms;
Structuring Canadian companies' investment into foreign jurisdictions,
including the use of holding company structures, joint venture arrangements,
acquisition strategies etc.;
Financing outbound investments using tax effective structures and strategies;
Reorganization of a Canadian company's international operations including tax
implications of foreign divisive reorganizations, mergers, liquidations;
Planning for the disposition of foreign affiliates;
International tax research on topics such as treaty issues, foreign tax regimes;
Assistance with professional development activities such as writing articles,
presentations and proposals.

Manager Profile
Strong technical tax background as a result of at least three years' Canadian
tax experience including basic knowledge of the foreign affiliate rules;
Ability to manage, develop and retain a team of tax professionals;
Applicants need to be highly motivated and interested in taking the initiative
for their own personal growth and development;
Ability to identify tax consulting opportunities;
Willingness to market tax services to existing and prospective clients;
Client service orientation combined with creative problem solving skills;
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Education Requirement
Business or law degree;
Accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) or Master in Taxation is desirable.
