This leading electrical supplier offers you the opportunity to undertake an exciting in-house tax role. The main purpose of your role is to monitor the VAT compliance position across Europe to minimize tax exposure and work with the Global ERP team to ensure that the new version of SAP is VAT Compliant.The key responsibilities will be:

* The successful implementation of VAT functionality within new SAP system.

* Awareness of any current exposures or weakness in VAT.

* Cash savings to the business through foreign VAT reclaims.

* Monitoring and reviewing the submission of VAT returns across Europe prepared by the local Finance and Tax teams.

* Assessing the present system capabilities and processes for VAT compliance across Europe with a view to assisting on the implementation of VAT functionality for a new SAP system.

* Put in place a system to track and monitor foreign VAT refunds to ensure the business has optimised cash flow.

* Build relationships with key internal business contacts and external advisors and work closely with the European finance team on resolving any local VAT audits arising.

* Providing indirect tax planning advice on existing and future pan-European contracts and promote VAT awareness within the organisation through training and seminars.

Desirable characteristics:

* Experience and/or a good working knowledge of VAT functionality in SAP.
* Having a real interest in developing the ‘green field’ role so that it makes a key impact on the European organisation.
