The role of the Tax function is to continually optimize the businesses tax position, provide assurance that all tax requirements are met everywhere we operate and to provide a strategic tax planning service for all Group and Business activities. Their purpose is to comply with all legal requirements in the taxing jurisdictions in which the Group operates in a way that will optimize the Group's tax position.
To achieve this, they have a strategy to seek maximum efficiency in compliance activities while performing an assurance role, maintain active relationships with the Businesses to ensure that there is a mutual understanding of their operations and associated tax issues, and to work proactively to seek beneficial change or avoid detrimental change in tax legislation.
The purpose of this role is to provide expert advice on a full range of employment tax matters. The post holder will be expected to help strengthen the Group's tax compliance, advisory and optimisation work on all aspects of UK Employment tax and ad hoc advising projects.
Being a valued and proactive member of the UK employment tax team sharing knowledge and ideas;
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Group Tax and Functions including HR, Legal, Pensions etc;
Advising Functions and Businesses HR and business policies to ensure they are compliant;
Ensuring HR are fully briefed on the requirements for full compensation and benefits data reporting for UK employees
Preparing all UK employment tax statutory returns including forms P11D and annual PSA.
Advising HR and the business on tax issues relating to staff terminations
Advising payroll on tax/NIC queries;
Working knowledge of the new Construction Industry Scheme
An understanding of the special tax and NIC rules afforded to mariners would be an advantage.
The Successful candidate should posses:
Good knowledge of employment taxes;
Experience in handling tax risk management issues in a large multi-national group;
Ability to manage tax compliance risk and deliver optimised solutions through networking and influencing teams in Tax, HR and the Business segments;
Ability to work unsupervised and to deadlines;
Clear performance bias, being a proven self-starter
Ability to prioritise and see tasks through to completion.
Strong written and oral communication, analytical and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to clearly explain complex tax issues to non tax professionals;
A track record of being a recognised, committed and enthusiastic team player.
You may be in practice or commerce and will ideally have a broad employee issues background. The role could suit someone from supervisor or Manager level.
