Overview
• Play a significant role in supporting the Partners with the management of their client portfolio.
•Act as a client relationship point of contact for significant clients.
•Be responsible for undertaking Strategic Reviews and related assignments for key clients and will be expected to be a Board level influencer.
•Win new clients through networking, business development and facilitating pitches.
Responsibilities
Project involvement:
•Act as a key point of contact within the Firm for the client
•Responsibility for tax planning and complex tax issues
•Advise on ad hoc projects and be deemed as an expert in their field
•Profitably manage client portfolios
•Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to on their clients
•Commercial management of their clients i.e. ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/partner informed of overruns, negotiating additional fees where possible. Plan staff assignments in order to give an appropriate spread of experience
•Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner, and acting on these accordingly.
Sales and Marketing:
•Develop, execute and manage the marketing strategy for own client portfolio
•Contribute to the tax group’s sales and marketing activities
•Regularly win assignments from own contacts and existing client portfolio in their own right
•Work cross-stream, introducing opportunities to other service lines
Group management:
•Overall responsibility for resource planning and allocation for their portfolio
•Recruitment including interviews, technical assessments etc.
•Staff training and development including recommendations for promotion
•Counsel, appraise, develop and motivate staff as appropriate
Communication and representation
•Liaise with Tax Authorities
•Act as a liaison between the client and other service lines and tax specialisms within the firm
•Represents Tax on matters where appropriate
•Act as a role model for the firm, both externally and internally
•Consult with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters.
Requirements
•Maintain an in depth, up to date, knowledge of relevant aspects of taxation.
•Acknowledged as an expect in their specialist field and able to deal with complex tax issues
•Educated to degree level; and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
•Demonstrable post qualified experience
