Our Client was founded in 1933 and is an independent international firm of chartered accountants which specialises in financial advice and taxation. Although the headquarters of the international practice is in London, the firm has a strong international client basis as well as providing for the needs of UK clients. To service the needs of the international element of the client base, the firm has over the decades established offices in many of the offshore financial centres, including the Channel Islands, Bermuda and the Caribbean. They also have offices in Switzerland and New Zealand. The common denominator in their client basis is that they are all high net worth. Although there is a slight bias towards international clients, including UK resident foreign domiciliaries, many of these are business entrepreneurs. Although the firm's reputation as a pre-eminent private client practice is well established, many of their clients are active international and UK business people and this creates a demand for technical tax services on the corporate side no less than in the private client field.
The Role
The firm has a strong team of corporate partners, supported by a recently formed dedicated Business Tax Group of three directors, two managers and four consultants. The firm is committed to recruiting a senior tax manager or director into this group to cope both with existing levels of corporate tax compliance and consultancy work and also to participate in the corporate marketing initiative which the firm has committed itself to. This will include participation in marketing events, assisting with writing technical literature for circulation to clients and contacts, and supporting corporate partners in meetings with potential clients. However, this is not primarily a marketing role. Although the individual recruited would be expected to participate in the marketing initiative along side other group members, the successful candidate could expect to be substantially chargeable on client work within a very short period. In terms of client work, the individual who fills the role could expect to be involved in the following:
Dealing with the whole range of client business tax issues to support partners, including dealing with HMRC enquiries, disposals, transaction support, clearances and advisory work.
Providing support in respect of corporation tax issues to their international network including advising on cross border transactions and the establishment of corporate structures in Europe.
Managing projects in respect of adhoc and client advisory work.
Providing technical support and training and development to the tax team.
Undertaking compliance and added value review's of the firm's corporation tax clients when required.
Experience Required/Person Specification

Opportunities exist for the right candidate to progress to partner in the mid term.
