Reporting day to day to the local partners and functionally to the Head of Taxation at Maidstone, this position holds the responsibility for running an office Tax department in a reliable, professional and commercial manner. You will have accountability for team members based locally. Whilst having direct responsibility for your department, you will have a shared responsibility with the other Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors for the success of the department and the firm generally. Principal duties:

* Ensure departmental targets are reached or exceeded in relation to:

1. Production

2. Fees

3. Margin (Value index)

* Support, advise, coach and motivate team members when required and ensure they fulfil their responsibilities.

* Liaise with other Managers (including those of other departments and offices) to ensure optimum flow of work and production from team members as a whole.

* Act as the conduit between Partners and team members, especially on personnel and team matters.

* Commercially manage and develop own client portfolio.

* Preparing and assessing staff budgets and capacity planning for your department.

* Ensure departmental compliance to relevant business risk issues.

* Attend networking and other events to help promote the business.

* Provision of ad hoc advice to Partners and Managers in other areas of the firm.

In conjunction with the Tax Partners, to provide Partners and Managers in other departments with information about the Tax department’s services (eg. through case studies, client profiles, seminars etc) to enable you to identify clients or prospective clients who may benefit from those services.Profile:

* Professional qualification (ie. CTA, ACA, ACCA) or at least 5 years’ relevant experience.

* Demonstrate a high level of technical tax knowledge and have experience of dealing with a variety of business and personal clients.
