SSP is the largest food and beverage travel concession business in Europe and Asia, operating principally in railway stations, airports, motorway service areas and on-board trains. With brand names such as Caffé Ritazza, Upper Crust and Millie’s Cookies, we have over 2,000 catering and retail units at approximately 600 sites across 28 countries.
Due to the sustained growth of the Group, an opportunity has arisen for a Tax Manager to join the Head Office team, based either in Weybridge or Birmingham. This is a challenging role suitable for those who are keen to move into an in-house environment, or to take on more responsibility within the commercial environment.
Principal responsibilities will include:
• Preparation and submission of the UK corporate tax computations and dealing with HMRC correspondence;
• Management of the group’s tax reporting process and ensuring all necessary tax information is prepared on a timely basis;
• Involvement in UK and international project work and liaising with colleagues overseas;
• Reviewing VAT returns and seeking tax planning opportunities that will assist in reducing the Group’s VAT burden.
Ideally you will be ACA or CTA qualified with strong UK corporate tax compliance knowledge. Previous experience of dealing with VAT and Transfer Pricing issues would be beneficial but are not a pre-requisite for this role. You must be able to combine the ability to research tax issues and keep up to date on legislative changes with the ability to explain concepts simply to non-tax colleagues. Establishing strong working relationships and building credibility with contacts both internally and externally is crucial for this role.
