A nonprofit organization is seeking a caring and driven Controller to join its team. In this role, you will prepare reports on audit findings and recommend changes in operations and financial activities, as well as confer with the CFO about financial and regulatory matters. Company Description
Supervise staff and oversee the resolution of all Fiscal issues that are delegated
Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports
Use tables of accounts to assign entries to proper accounts
Develop document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology and systems
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns
Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies
Support the Fiscal department in auditing its books and ensuring that they balance and all expenditures are accounted for
Examine and evaluate financial and information systems
Issue and record adjustments to previous fiscal related errors or issues with retroactive impact
Work closely with Payroll to ensure that all financial issues are resolved
Help manage end of fiscal year issues
Required Skills
Degree in Accounting
5+ years related public or private accounting experience
Supervising/management background
Strong understanding of General Ledger, GAAP, and other reporting and procedural standards
Prior not for profit industry experience
Familiar with month end close and budgets
