About the Opportunity
A credit-oriented alternative asset managing company is in need of a new Assistant Vice President of Tax Compliance. This position assumes ownership of a wide range of functions covering domestic and international tax compliance.
Alternative Asset Managing Company
The essential functions of the Assistant Vice President of Tax Compliance are, but not limited to:
Preparing book to tax reconciliation for various partnership entities and corporate entities
Participating in tracking partnership/partner tax bases
Compiling tax data and assists in provision of reports and work papers to tax preparer in support of the federal, state and foreign income and franchise tax returns
Analyzing financial statements/trial balance and performs security/debt investment analysis to determine the proper tax treatment and tax adjustments
Researching tax treatment of complex financial instruments and corporate actions of Funds
Engaging in US reporting of foreign investments and reporting of US investments held by non-US citizens and foreign partners
Performing interim year partnership projections and allocations to assist the Fund’s investors and the Firm’s partners with making quarterly estimated tax payments
Assisting in performing quarterly and annual FAS 109 calculation in connection with SEC reporting requirements
Preparing and maintains federal, state, and local tax calendar
Preparing quarterly estimated income tax payments
Assisting with responding to tax authority requests
Involvement in various special projects
Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
Hedge fund and or private equity experience from big 4 or relevant industry
Understanding of hedge fund structures (master-feeder, mini-master, and fund-of-funds)
Knowledge of hedge fund tax accounting concepts including partnership tax accounting, tax allocations, management and incentive fees
Experience with financial services taxation, including PFICs
Must produce timely and accurate records, while maintaining meticulous work paper documentation; attention to detail is critical
Exposure to taxation of debt instruments
